Comprehensive Oral Exams

A comprehensive oral exam is the initial exam in which all areas of the mouth are thoroughly examined, a full series of x-rays are taken, all existing treatment and conditions are charted and all areas of concern are addressed and treatment planned. The areas included in the examination are as follows:

  • Periodontal Exam (gum and bones supporting the teeth)
  • Dental Exam (teeth)
  • Radiographic Exam (x-rays and various scans)
  • Oral Cancer Screening
  • Head and Neck Cancer Exam (soft tissues of mouth, throat and surrounding structures)
  • TMJ Exam (jaw joints)
  • Aesthetic Exam (appearance of teeth and gums related to the face, shade of teeth is recorded)
  • Blood pressure is taken and recorded
